Community Rules & Guidelines¶
Our wish is that we can be a low moderation instance, however as stated in our rules & detailed within these documents - this is not a "free for all".
While freedom of expression is indeed a foundational right and as such it is essential for the enjoyment and protection of all human rights, it is not absolute.
When posts contain material that could be demeaning, disrespectful and/or downright offensive towards individuals or a specific group of, then this right is no longer valid and will be subject to moderation & consequences.
We want the instance to be used by anyone and that they feel safe that they will be able to shield themselves from any sort of content they wish not to see.
Difference Of Opinions
Individuals aren't always going to see eye to eye and have differing opinions on a number of topics.
This is totally fine, and somewhat encouraged to foster some healthy debate and conversations.
Users have the control of when to ignore/mute/block other users when they feel that those conversations and debates become too heated / unwanted.
We may intervene if its brought to our attention that not all parties involved are respecting that right.
Rules Summary¶
These are a brief summary of the rules that are currently in operation on our instance.
We regularly review them and any changes will be documented here as well as announced on the instance.
Always be kind & respectful.
No engaging in, promoting or advocating any malicious content or behaviour.
Let people decide what content they see. Add relevant hashtags, Mark media as sensitive and/or put a Content Warning / Wrapper (CW) on your posts.
Don't engage in, discuss or promote disinformation nor anything illegal.
No automated (bots) / business / corporate / spam / timeline flooding accounts.
Give credit when posting third party' media whenever possible (including any AI use).
Profile pictures & headers must be SFW (safe for work).
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!!
Content Guidelines¶
Before you post¶
Consider who might not want to see your post.
Not every post has to be broadcast for all to see in all of the known instances.
Setting of post privacy modes, adding a Content Wrapper / Warning or even using appropriate hashtags help alot to keep people from seeing content they don't wish to see.
NSFW / Adult (18+) / Sensitive Material¶
Any posts with content that is classed as inappropriate for reading/viewing in a professional setting (ie NSFW), contain topics/images of an adult nature or that may invoke polarised opinions, trauma, phobias, etc must be marked as sensitive with text and/or any appropriate hashtags within the post & its content warning clearly defining what it is.
Doing so would allow individuals to place filters in order to minimise their exposure to unwanted content and have a better experience.
Posts may be marked as sensitive or removed by the Moderation team if they don't adhere to this.
This also extends to your username, display name, profile picture & header.
Malicious Content / Behaviour¶
Any accounts brought to our attention that directly or indirectly (linked or implied) encourages, advocates or promotes any sort of harmful content (text or media) against anyone (individually or as a group / subset) will not be tolerated.
This includes (but not limited to): - Harassment - Discrimination - Violence - Vendettas / Grudges - Doxxing - Dogpiling / Witch Hunt
Engaging in, discussing or promoting disinformation in a manner thats harmful to the recipent or to the wider federated universe (for example: persistently pushing the narrative to get a reaction) may also be subject to moderation.
Unsolicated / Spam / Automated / Bot Accounts¶
To ensure unneccessary 'noise' within the instance (and the fediverse as a whole), business, corporate, automated & bot accounts are highly discouraged on our instance and will be subject to moderation controls or even suspended.
This also extends to irrelevant or unsolicited posts (public or not) for the purposes which include (but not limited to): - advertising/promotion of a service or product - mass mentioning - timeline flooding
Unless permission to post was sought and given, accounts engaging in this activity will be suspended.
Consider another instance if you wish to use an account in this manner.
Follow Requests / Begging¶
Please do not engage in posting messages solely for the aim to ask for follows, whether its to everyone, a group of people or one in particular.
